The Canker sores are also known as aphthous ulcers and popularly called as Mouth ulcers. Basically, ulcers in the mouth are two types, Canker Sores and Cold Sores. The Canker Sores or Mouth Ulcers occur inside the mouth – on lips or cheeks. They are typically white or yellow surrounded by inflamed tissue.

Whilst the Cold Sores which are also called as Fever Blisters will occur outside the mouth or other parts of the mouth and sometimes inside the mouth – on the gums, over the bone, and on the roof of the mouth.

So, here I’m with a bunch of ancient remedies for an instant relief from the annoying ulcers.

Firstly, let’s quickly dig into the causes of mouth ulcers.

The Top 7 Causes of Mouth Ulcers

home remedies to reduce mouth ulcers

  • Biting the skin – This is the most common problem we encounter with. Sometimes with or without notice, we bite the layer of skin in the mouth and in most cases, the particular area gets swollen and turns out to be an Ulcer. Apparently, this also happens because of extreme heat levels in the body.

  • Usage of Antibiotics –  These days we rely on the tablets most often for all sorts of problems. Usage of such heavy dose antibiotic tablets produces lots of heat in the body which may again lead to problems like Mouth Ulcers, Constipation and much more.

  • Poor Hygiene levels – If we don’t clean the mouth twice a day, there are chances of bacteria and impurities to accumulate in the mouth. That’s the reason why “brushing the teeth twice a day” is strongly recommended. If you’re not into brushing then gargle with mouthwash.

  • Hormonal Imbalance – Due to Hormonal fluctuations during the Menstrual cycle, Puberty, Menopause and during Pregnancy some women may get affected with canker sores or bright red swollen gums.

  • Foods – The daily consumption of the foods like Mangoes, Green Tea, Caffeine, Alcohol, Red Meat, Spicy foods, and Junkies effect the body inducing more heat.

  • Excess Body Heat – Heat in the body is produced for many reasons. Amongst them, the environmental heat and the type of food we consume are the main big reasons. Whilst in summers, like how the environment gets heated up. Likewise, our body gets heated up when exposed to the scorching sun.

  • High-Stress Levels – Yes, Stress will obviously wreck your mouth. When the body is extremely stressed out it automatically gets run down because a stress hormone called Cortisol is released. Cortisol will lower the immune system and vitamins.
